Writing to Allow Impact to Flow Freely
Nov. 12, 2022 | plus, I get to tell you about my new book project!
Have you ever had a knot in your neck and you couldn’t get it out? You couldn’t focus on anything else until you fixed the nagging knot screaming for your attention and in need of remedy..
Well that’s how I am with writing at most times in my life.
I’ve written to cope, to grieve, to share, to inspire, educate and to impact the lives of others, including myself. In my core belief lies the idea that we each have a story to tell, gifts to give, and a meaningful purpose here on this great big blue (and green) planet.
What’s yours?
For all of my life, I have felt different - for lack of a better term.
I’ve always esteemed myself to such impressive heights that sometimes the pressures of those comparisons would be enough to cause me to crumble under the tormenting weight of comparison. I looked up to people like Gandhi & Martin Luther King Jr., people like JFK and Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Carl Jung, Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Josh Axe, Dr. Oz, and a dozen more before and after throughout my hopeful future expectations.
I’ve always been on a mission to make a difference in my life and career, because I believe I can and that I should… that my life is not to be taken for granted but is to be best lived in line of service to others as a good and worthy steward of the time we get to spend on this planet.
For none of us knows the number of our days. So we are either left to hope or left to wander into despair. I chose hope, or rather hope chose me. I learned early on in my life that despair was going to get me nowhere. So, the only other direction I had available was to be hopeful for a better day, a brighter day, a future in which I could provide peace, patience, calm, and financial freedom for my family, interlaced with optimal health and healing of course.
Growing up with a single-mom mom suffering from Crohn’s disease gave me some level of insane motivation and unrealistic expectations on myself to fix the brokenness I saw in the world.
Some might call it the path of the wounded healer or the divinely inspired practitioner, but call it what you may.. I just know I always felt different… more responsible for the world around me than the world was responsible for me.
You see.. many people today suffer in despair, stuck in a mental loop of negative self-talk and assuming the misplaced position for the effects caused by others or just the world in general. This is a state of either internalized or overtly learned helplessness - and this too gets us no where in life.
It sucks to see and sucks the life right out of these individuals and sucks the life right out of anyone close to them too. It’s an open drain to what could be a wellspring of hope and prosperity for a community or at least a dozen people and places connected to that one single individual.
We cannot allow ourselves - or others - to conform to the common contortion of modern mediocrity and allow our public commons to grow complacent, indecent, and depressive.
Don’t you think we were made for more than this?
Don’t you think humans of an honorable society ought to be much more capable than the conundrums of today?
Let’s take a look at some of the common problems of today… putting our perspective on preventable deaths for instance gives us this sad state of complex factors that have impacted both men and women of all ages to lose years of life unnecessarily - dying too young and too early, uninspired and misaligned from the powerful and impactful opportunities that come to us by way of a life aligned with purpose and meaning.
As for one example, a common trope is magical transformation that comes by way of utilizing pain to cultivate purpose.
We can think about this when it comes to commerce and capitalism, exploring users’ pain points in order to develop a purposeful tool to help them but also when we take the time to reflect in the mirror and consider our own personal journeys in life we can find deep pain points there too.
And often the greatest fuel to find a fulfilling life is take a close look at our pain and turning pain into purpose as we learn great insights from the painful moments of our life and learn from our mistakes too.
Our human biology is designed to best remember and store the gravest and greatest memorable moments in our life.. and we can either let them define us or let them refine us.. just depends on what we do with those memories.
I firmly believe we can use that pain to push us closer to a passion-driven life with fulfillment and purpose as we mold and shape those memories to be the greatest gems we can give the world as the gifts and blessings we have gained from the pains we’ve retained over the course of our life.
At different stages and ages of our lives, we hold seeds to sow, as those moments of pain and brokenness in our lives can look like a decaying fruit fallen from a tree… but it actually provides a powerful resource for birds and bees to feed on.. and yes you guessed it.. they often spread the goodness of that fruit all around by cross pollinating and planting seeds in our miraculous, beautiful, mystical life-cycle.
WE TOO can find pain in our lives to look like spoiled fruits, decayed foods, or decomposed plants… but while all of those things hold negative connotations they can act as magical opportunities to nourish the next generation of plants and animals (or humans) if we know how to use them.
So, where does that leave me (and you) today?
What’s the purpose in this story today?
Well, for one I want you to honestly recognize how every moment of your story places profound weight on your life with unexplored joys that lay on the other side of your transformation. We can either let our stories control us or we take hold of our stories and use them for good and give them as gifts to the world at large.
It is with all of these philosophical, deeply entrenched beliefs in which I intend to lead my life and continue to teach, reach, and write for the benefit of people like you.
It is with all of this in mind - and more - that I am OFFICIALLY LAUNCHING MY FIRST solo BOOK focusing on the topics of children’s mental health, nutritional psychiatry, healthy living, lifestyle strategies. [ETA: Spring 2023]
I’m very nervous and also very excited all at the same time…. sorta like the first day of school in kindergarten or the pregame warmup in high school basketball.
In the coming weeks to months I will be finalizing my outline, scripting more chapters of the rough draft, and putting some puzzle pieces together that may include YOU! Here’s how you can get involved!
I’m looking for 3+ groups of people:
those who are interested in being BETA READERS to offer their time to read early drafts, provide comments, perspectives, and more, free copy of the book, etc.
those who are passionate about the topic and want to talk to me to share some impactful idea story or personal testimony I may add in the book, either about you or a kiddo in your life.
those who are passionate about the topic and have a good network / following who want to help with the launch of the book by getting a signed copy, buying in bulk for others or their communities, or willing to do some social sharing when the book launches to promote the book!
BONUS: anyone who believes in the project, wants a free copy and a special place for their name to be in the book as a $PECIAL financial contributor to help $UPPORT the project with either $250, $500, $1000 to help me pay for the project + breathing room for my ongoing life responsibilities. [as you likely know, I work in the health field, so if you want to provide referrals or work out a deal where I can help you live healthier in the process, I’m there.
COMMENT BELOW with any of the numbers of ways you may want to get involved!
1) Beta Readers
2) Storytellers
3) Promoters
4) $upporters (financially)
If you have questions, let’s hear them
Much Love as always,

"the tormenting weight of comparison" - what a perfect way to put it!
Best of luck in writing your book - I look forward to following your progress and that of the book!
