What do you know about probiotics?
Have you ever thought about how they may help a newborn baby?
I know a lot of people who have recently had a brand new blessing brought into the world. [CONGRATULATIONS !!]
Now, with that being said, there are tons of challenges that come with having a newborn baby, for both parents and the baby too of course.
Babies need high-quality nutrition, that’s a fact. Ideally, the biological mother is a healthy provider of breastmilk to the baby but that is not always the case for one reason or another. When things become difficult in the feeding frenzy, it’s important to make sure the baby has a chance at high-quality nutrition, however made possible.
Now in the past, there have been some strong controversies around formula feeding, marketing campaigns for and against, as well as general lack of qualified information in public health sector, which ought to be recommending striving for breastfeeding for at least 1 yr if able.
Across most American public health statements, you’ll likely see comments and recommendations for at least 6-months, which is yes indeed true as well but even more, somewhere around 12-18, sometimes even 24 months may have a health promoting impact on the baby.
Why? You might ask…
Well, I mean that question is a loaded one to say the least. It is well known just how important and nutritious breastmilk can be for a developing baby. There are countless components to breastmilk (first being colostrum, another being human milk oligosaccharides HMOs for short among others) that the product manufacturing and baby marketing industry has tried to recreate but just can’t seem to 1) match the intelligent design of Mother Nature, 2) keep formularies for babies clean, natural, and safe.
There have been so many controversies in the formulary market for many years, so I won’t go into them here. But, I firmly believe people deserve to know they have options - both for their babies health and their own peace of mind.
One really interesting thing to note in our current times is the strange occurrence of formula shortages (ref) and breastmilk shortages, mothers having difficulty lactating, latching the child and scheduled feeding, babies having difficulty in digestion from formula feeding, and more. It’s crazy but good to see such networks of moms and milk banks, striving to provide optimal nutrition to the newborn babies that have been brought into the world.
As an RD and holistic health minded person, I can't help but recognize the vital importance of digestion and the gut microbiome for a child's wellbeing, cognitive health, and overall development.
From some of the recent conversations I've had with families and some additional work I'm doing on the side for folks, I wanted to go ahead and share some information about a product that is specifically formulated to support a baby's growth from the inside out.
You can check it out more at the link below or feel free to ask me any questions about it at any time. A few things I'm commonly asked about this topic are:
- will this impact the baby's daily bowel movements?
- will this help the baby get all the nutrients they need?
- will this help the baby have better sleep?
- will this help the baby have more rest and relaxation?
Honestly, it is incredible what the gut can do when we let it thrive in supporting someone's health and wellbeing. Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes. Anything that helps optimize the gut helps optimize the rest of the body, from the immune system to mental health, to sleep and so much more.
The product I’m excited to tell you more about is one developed by a company called Designs for Health, and you can check out the ProBioMed Infant with a special discount of 15% off here with my special discount code “Baby15” if you order before November 10th, 2022. This product is a special blend of probiotics and HMOs designed to help support the gut microbiome and digestion of that infant in your life. You never know just how much of a change a happy, healthy gut can provide until you can see, know, and fully experience the change for yourself.
That’s the crazy thing about much of health and wellness in general, is that we don’t know what we don’t know… whether it is a risky formula sourcing, potential heavy metals found in rice ingredients, or just how profoundly helpful a healthy digestive system could be for a colicky baby.
